The 8162xB Series optical power sensors feature a large area detector in a remote sensor that allows for flexible positioning and accurate power measurements. Features include averaging time settings (100 µs to 10 s), auto power ranging, minimum and maximum monitoring, and logging up to 20k samples. Fiber adapters are available for common connector types including MT ribbon fiber connectors and bare fiber clamps.
The D-type adapters are magnetically secured for quick replacement. These probes also include a removable 81624DD adapter ring for use with threaded adapters. These probes connect to the 816x mainframe using the 81618A single-channel or 81619A dual-channel interface modules.
Advantages:
Low relative uncertainty reduces the effects of connectorization, fiber handling, and lead generation, enabling a stable test configuration
The large 5 mm detector area reduces the effects of connector misalignment, ensuring more repeatable measurements. Less power per square millimeter makes the optical sensor more durable and ensures better linearity for high-power measurements
